After former President Donald Trump was convicted of falsifying business records, several wealthy Republican donors have come to his aid. Trump’s campaign announced it raised $53 million in just 24 hours following the verdict.

Key supporters include:

  • Miriam Adelson, a casino billionaire, is expected to donate a large amount to the Preserve America political action committee.
  • David Sacks and Chamath Palihapitiya, Silicon Valley investors, are organizing a fundraiser for Trump.
  • Bill Ackman, a hedge fund manager who previously criticized Trump, is now supporting him.
  • Steve Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone Group, has also expressed his support, concerned about current policies and rising antisemitism.
  • Other supporters include billionaires John Paulson, Robert Mercer, Harold Hamm, and Steve Wynn.

In contrast, Elon Musk and Peter Thiel have chosen not to donate to any candidate this cycle, although Musk will host a town hall event with Trump. Shaun Maguire from Sequoia has donated $300,000, citing the legal actions against Trump as unfair.

Despite this boost, Joe Biden’s campaign still leads in total fundraising with $192 million compared to Trump’s $93.1 million.
